About the Jeep Grand Cherokee
The popularity of the Jeep Grand Cherokee comes partly from the things that make other vehicles popular. It’s a well-made and well-designed vehicle that excels across a wide variety of uses, but that’s not the whole story with the Grand Cherokee. With the Grand Cherokee, Jeep accomplished something unique: a blend of comfort and genuine off-road ability that you can’t get in any other midsize SUV anywhere near this price point. There are other midsize SUVs that accomplish one or the other, sometimes quite well, but when they try to do both, there are almost always compromises. Not so with the Grand Cherokee, which has remained hugely popular for decades because of this fact.
What the Critics Say
“Even with its innate off-road ability, the Grand Cherokee is comfortable on pavement, and its spacious interior is thoroughly modern. With so many available trims, the Grand Cherokee competes with a wide variety of other offerings” - Car & Driver
“It’s easy to see why the Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of America’s best-selling midsize SUVs. This always rugged and sometimes luxurious midsize SUV has wowed us with its comfort and luxury in the cabin and adventurous capabilities off-road. Combining these qualities in practical and appealing SUVs is one of Jeep’s specialties, and it’s on full display in the Grand Cherokee.” - Kelley Blue Book
What’s New for 2026
Midsize SUV shoppers will be delighted to discover a wide range of improvements to the iconic Jeep Grand Cherokee for 2026. Beginning with its visual appearance, the Grand Cherokee is now more sophisticated than ever before. Changes include a reimagined 7-slot front grille, a new front bumper, and an updated rear bumper design. Elsewhere, the Grand Cherokee benefits from an all-new 2.0L Hurricane Turbo 4-cylinder engine upgrade that delivers class-leading power. Step inside the cabin to find plenty of new tech features as well. Examples include a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen display and the availability of a clever new 10.3-inch screen for the front passenger.
Jeep Grand Cherokee Features
Unmatched Capability
There are plenty of midsize SUVs out there, but the capability that comes with the Jeep Grand Cherokee puts it in a class by itself. Power comes from a 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6, which produces 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque and is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. There’s also an impressive available 2.0L Hurricane 4-Cylinder Turbo that delivers a robust 324 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but there are three different 4x4 systems to choose from: Quadra-Trac I®, Quadra-Trac II®, and Quadra-Drive® II. Any of these, especially when paired with the available Quadra-Lift® Air Suspension System, deliver exceptional offroad performance. The available Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System lets you choose between Auto, Sport, Rock, Snow or Mud/Sand driving modes. Of course, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention the best-in-class towing capacity of 6,200 pounds.
Comfortable Interior
There are plenty of off-road options out there and it’s especially easy to find one from Jeep. However, the Grand Cherokee is such a popular alternative to other off-road-focused SUVs because of its comfortable and spacious interior. The Grand Cherokee seats five to 7 depending on configuration, or you can fold the seats down for a maximum cargo space of 84.6 cubic feet. For the upholstery on those seats, you have a choice of cloth, Capri leatherette, Nappa leather, or Palermo leather, with available heating and ventilation, even for the back seats. Open-pore wood trim is available and there’s even the option of a premium headliner. There is an available dual-pane panoramic sunroof to let in the light, and at night, there is LED ambient lighting. There are a few different choices for the stereo, including the incredible 19-speaker McIntosh® MX950 Entertainment System with a 17-channel, 950-watt amplifier.

Cutting-Edge Technology
There is some seriously impressive technology that goes into making the Grand Cherokee such an incredible off-roader but the advanced features don’t end there. The standard safety equipment is especially impressive and includes things like Active Lane-Management System, Blind-Spot and Cross-Path Detection, ParkSense® Rear Park-Assist with Stop, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, and Full-Speed Forward-Collision Warning Plus. There’s an available head-up display to help keep your eyes on the road. To help even more, you can opt for the passenger-side infotainment screen, allowing the front passenger to control the action or choose the next song. Other available equipment includes a Surround-View Camera System, an integrated off-road camera, and an Intersection Collision-Assist System. There’s even a night vision system which includes pedestrian and animal detection. For the ultimate in relaxed driving, there is a Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System for highway driving.
