The Chrysler Airflow Concept - Learn about the Chrysler Electric Car

There are all different kinds of concept vehicles. Some show off a new design aesthetic that the automaker is planning to adopt, while some are built to be technology showcases. But the most interesting sort of concept vehicles are those that are bound for actual production, and the Chrysler Airflow is one of these concept vehicles. The Airflow is slated to be Chrysler’s first pure electric vehicle, and it’s worth taking a closer look.

Chrysler Airflow Drivetrain

The Airflow you see here is not the first Chrysler Airflow. The name was used back in the 1930s for the first vehicle produced by Chrysler (or anybody, for that matter) that incorporated aerodynamics as a part of the design. It is therefore fitting that Chrysler would revive the nameplate for a highly advanced EV that is also the brand’s first fully electric model. We don’t have all of the details yet, but we do know that Chrysler is planning a dual-motor all-wheel drive configuration, and that it will deliver 350 to 400 miles of range.

Chrysler Airflow Styling

The Airflow is a compact SUV with seating for four. That number comes from the fact that the back has individual bucket seats, complete with a central armrest, rather than the traditional bench. The fastback body speaks to the aerodynamic origins of the Airflow name, and gives it an athletic look. The full-width crystal LED light blades, which include an illuminated Chrysler Wing, accentuate the Airflow’s low and wide stance. So far, there have been versions of the Airflow concept, the Airflow, and the Airflow Graphite. The Airflow was shown in Arctic White, with contrasting black pillars and the parts of the edges of the panoramic glass roof. The Airflow Graphite is painted Galaxy Black with Cyprus Copper accents, including wheels.

Chrysler Airflow Technology

The original Airflow was a major leap forward for the whole automotive industry, so it’s fitting that this new version is incredibly advanced. The drivetrain is incredibly efficient, being able to get up to 400 miles from a 118-kWh battery, but that’s only the start. The Airflow is built on the all-new STLA Brain platform, which includes STLA AutoDrive, a Level 3 autonomous driving system. This system, as well as all of the software in the Airflow, is fully over-the-air capable, and delivery of updates and upgrades is seamless and easy. The Airflow also features STLA SmartCockpit, which gives you access to an unprecedented range of connected and customizable features, powered by advanced technology.
