2026 Jeep Dimensions Guide for SUVs

Jeep Dimensions Guide - Preferred CDJR of Grand Haven

Jeep vehicles have an outstanding reputation as capable vehicles both on the road and off. In fact, this reputation is so well known that it can make it easy to overlook other aspects of the Jeep lineup. And since overlooking things like size can make it harder to choose which Jeep vehicle is right for you, we put together a guide to the dimensions of Jeep vehicles.

Jeep Model Size Comparison

Model Exterior Length Seats Passenger Volume Max Cargo Volume
Compass 173.4 inches 5 100 cubic feet 59.8 cubic feet
Cherokee 188.1 inches 5 107 cubic feet 68.3 cubic feet
Wrangler (2-door) 188.4 inches (166.8 inches) 5 (4) 104 cubic feet 72.4 cubic feet (31.7 cubic feet)
Gladiator 218 inches 5 103 cubic feet 35.5 cubic feet (in pickup bed)
Grand Cherokee (L) 193.5 inches (204.9 inches) 5 (6) 145 cubic feet (152 cubic feet) 70.8 cubic feet (84.6 cubic feet)
Grand Wagoneer 214.7 inches 8 179 cubic feet 116.7 cubic feet
Recon 193.3 inches 5 111.3 cubic feet 65.9 cubic feet
Wagoneer S 192.4 inches 5 99.5 cubic feet 64 cubic feet

Jeep vehicles run the gamut from compact to full-size, with several in between. The Gladiator is the odd one in this comparison, since it has a pickup bed, which none of the other models do. This makes it look as though the Gladiator has less cargo capacity, when in reality it’s the easiest option for carrying all sorts of larger cargo. The fact that there are two different models named Wagoneer, and two named Cherokee doesn’t make things any easier to keep track of, but that’s why we’re going to go into more detail now.

2026 Jeep Compass Dimensions

Jeep Compass
Exterior Length 173.4 inches
Wheelbase 103.8 inches
Exterior Height 64.8 inches
Exterior Width 73.8 inches
Cargo Volume Behind 2nd Row 27.2 cubic feet
Max Cargo Volume 59.8 cubic feet
Legroom (front / back) 41.8 inches / 38.3 inches
Headroom (front / back) 39.2 inches / 38.5 inches

The Compass is a compact SUV and the smallest Jeep model. But the Compass is built to maximize interior space, and there isn’t much difference in passenger space between it and the bigger 4-door Wrangler. Cargo space is also ample, even with the back seats in position. The Compass, especially the Trailhawk trim, is built to be capable off-road, without sacrificing the ability to easily navigate crowded parking lots. Powered by a 200-horsepower 2.0-liter engine, the Compass can also tow up to 2,000 pounds.

2026 Jeep Cherokee Dimensions

Jeep Cherokee
Exterior Length 188.1 inches
Wheelbase 113 inches
Exterior Height 67.5 inches
Exterior Width 74.7 inches
Cargo Volume Behind 2nd Row 33.6 cubic feet
Max Cargo Volume 68.3 cubic feet
Legroom (front / back) 41.3 inches / 38.5 inches
Headroom (front / back) 40.3 inches / 40.2 inches

The Cherokee is very similar in size to the Wrangler, but is built to be more accommodating to everyday use. This includes a hybrid drivetrain, which does provide extra low-end torque that’s great for off-road use, but the main thing you’ll notice is how you’re visiting the gas station a lot less often. It will even tow 3,500 pounds.

2026 Jeep Wrangler Dimensions

Jeep Wrangler
Exterior Length 166.8 inches / 188.4 inches
Wheelbase 96.8 inches / 118.4 inches
Exterior Height 73.6 inches
Exterior Width 73.9 inches
Cargo Volume Behind 2nd Row 12.9 cubic feet / 31.7 cubic feet
Max Cargo Volume 31.7 cubic feet / 72.4 cubic feet
2-Door Legroom (front / back) 41.2 inches / 38.3 inches
4-Door Legroom (front / back) 41.2 inches / 35.7 inches
Headroom (front / back) 42.6 inches / 41.7 inches

The Wrangler is the most iconic of Jeep models, the off-road model that most closely resembles the military vehicle that launched the whole brand. There are two sizes of Wrangler available, a two-door version and a four-door version, which is why you see two sets of numbers in the chart. Choosing one or the other has no impact on headroom or front legroom, so which one is right for you comes down more to rear legroom and cargo space. Thanks to standard V6 power, the Wrangler can also tow up to 3,500 pounds.

2026 Jeep Gladiator Dimensions

Jeep Gladiator
Exterior Length 218 inches
Wheelbase 137.3 inches
Exterior Height 76.1 inches
Exterior Width 73.8 inches
Cargo Box Volume 35.5 cubic feet
Legroom (front / back) 41.2 inches / 38.3 inches
Headroom (front / back) 42.8 inches / 42.8 inches

The Gladiator is, in many ways, a Wrangler with a pickup bed on the back. Obviously, there is a little more to it than that; there is a longer wheelbase, and the Gladiator’s towing capacity of 7,700 pounds far exceeds that of the Wrangler. But as far as interior space goes, it would be very difficult to tell the two apart in most contexts. There are plenty of reasons why someone might pick a Gladiator or Wrangler over the other, but as far as size, this is a pretty straightforward comparison.

2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee / Grand Cherokee L Dimensions

Jeep Grand Cherokee
Exterior Length 193.5 inches / 204.9 inches
Wheelbase 116.7 inches / 121.7 inches
Exterior Height 70.8 inches / 71.5 inches
Exterior Width 77.5 inches
Cargo Volume Behind 2nd Row / 3rd Row 37.7 cubic feet / 17.2 cubic feet
Max Cargo Volume 70.8 cubic feet / 84.6 cubic feet
Legroom (front / back) 41.3 inches / 38.2 inches
Grand Cherokee L Legroom (1st row / 2nd row / 3rd row) 41.3 inches / 39.4 inches / 30.3 inches
Headroom (front / back) 39.9 inches / 39.4 inches
Grand Cherokee L Headroom (1st row / 2nd row / 3rd row) 39.8 inches / 39.9 inches / 37.3 inches

The Grand Cherokee is another Jeep icon, one of the vehicles that helped convince Americans that SUVs can be practical everyday transportation and highly capable off-road at the same time. Today there are two versions, the Grand Cherokee and the three-row Grand Cherokee L. There is only one more seat in the Grand Cherokee L, which might seem confusing at first. This is because the second-row bench seat in the Grand Cherokee is replaced in the Grand Cherokee L with a pair of captains’ chairs, which, together with the two third-row seats, bring the total up to six. On top of all of that, the Grand Cherokee can tow a whopping 6,200 pounds.

2026 Jeep Recon Dimensions

Jeep Recon
Exterior Length 193.3 inches
Wheelbase 112.9 inches
Exterior Height 73.8 inches
Exterior Width 87.4 inches
Cargo Volume Behind 2nd Row 30.3 cubic feet
Max Cargo Volume 65.9 cubic feet
Legroom (front / back) 41.4 inches / 38.5 inches
Headroom (front / back) 42.3 inches / 40.6 inches

The Recon is built with all of the off-road prowess that makes the Wrangler so iconic, but with an all-electric drivetrain. With a power-retractable roof, quick-release door hinges, and removable windows, the Recon is made for open-air adventure. The incredibly powerful drivetrain gives you the low-end power to climb over rocks and ford streams, then sportscar-like acceleration on the road.

2026 Jeep Wagoneer S Dimensions

Jeep Wagoneer S
Exterior Length 192.4 inches
Wheelbase 113 inchess
Exterior Height 64.8 inches
Exterior Width 74.8 inches
Cargo Volume Behind 2nd Row 30.6 cubic feet
Max Cargo Volume 64 cubic feet
Legroom (front / back) 41.3 inches / 38 inches
Headroom (front / back) 38 inches / 37.4 inches

Not to be confused with the full-size Wagoneer or Grand Wagoneer, the Wagoneer S is a midsize electric SUV that slots in between the Compass and Grand Cherokee size-wise. The Wagoneer S is also something of a performance powerhouse, with an available drivetrain that allows for a 0-60 time of just 3.4 seconds. Not that that directly relates to size, but it is incredibly quick for a midsize SUV that will easily hold the whole family and a week’s worth of groceries at the same time.

2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Dimensions

Jeep Grand Wagoneer
Exterior Length 214.7 inches
Wheelbase 123 inches
Exterior Height 75.6 inches
Exterior Width 83.6 inches
Cargo Volume Behind 2nd Row 27.4 cubic feet
Max Cargo Volume 116.7 cubic feet
Legroom (1st row / 2nd row / 3rd row) 40.9 inches / 42.7 inches / 36.6
Headroom (1st row / 2nd row / 3rd row) 41.3 inches / 40 inches / 39 inches

The Grand Wagoneer is the biggest vehicle in the Jeep lineup, with seating for eight across three rows of seats. When you need to carry the whole family, or quite a lot of cargo, this is the Jeep vehicle for you. And if you need to bring even more cargo, it’ll tow up to 9,800 pounds, the best towing capacity in its class. The interior is where the Grand Wagoneer really impresses, with open-pore wood trim and leather upholstery, as well as an incredible available 23-speaker stereo system.
